Turkey, October 2015. The Beach of Akbuk. The Ceramic Gulf or Gulf of Gökova is the stretch of the South Aegean Sea that lies between the Bodrum Peninsula in the north and Datça Peninsula in the south. Situated roughly between the seaside resorts of Marmaris and Bodrum and the Latmos mountains in the east lies Ancient Caria. The Carian Trail runs through pine scented forests along the coastal mountains of Western Turkey and is littered with ancient ruins, secluded coves with turquoise waters and little villages. more than 800km of ancient roads, shepherd paths and forest trails form Turkey's longest hiking trail.
